Greetings Nerds and Nerdettes!!!

Allow me to introduce the latest recruit to the Initiave…The Soda Powered Superhero…Carbon Nate!!

Greetings Greetings…yes thank you…thank you.

Ok a quick bio about myself…I believe that should be enough for the first one.  I, like so many of you are a nerd.  I read comics, I watch anime, I follow the go behinds of pro wrestling, and I enjoy the musical stylings of MC Chris.

I’ll post today about the latest news that has me jumping for joy!!! HEROCLIX IS BACK!!!  Thats right ladies and gentlemen the game that that gave me the little social skill I have and was more responsible for me not getting laid then Captain Cockblock has returned with a rebirth thanks to the company NECA who has bought the game line from the Topps owned Wizkids.

For those unfamiliar with what heroclix is its a table top game that is a mixture of chess and risk with super heroes with just a really really really small hint of DnD.  You have the big 2 companies Marvel and DC with smaller brands of the independents in.  So think of a giant smack down with Batman, Wolverine, Judge Dredd, Hellboy, and even Howard the Duck battling it out on teams!!!  While there are many charcters who you can just run into a fight the game revolves around strategy more then anything with a side of luck since the outcome is decided on dice rolls.

The game came out in May 2002 with a Marvel set, with a DC following just a few months later.  The game died November 2008 when Tops was putting an end to Wizkids after Wizkids released 1 too many failed game lines (Haloclix, Creepy Freaks, a Barbie sized Shadow Run clix, and High Stakes Drifter to name a few.)

Heroclix was their bread and butter, quickly outselling their MechWarrior and Mage Knight brands.

I first picked up the game at Crazy Cards and Comics in Lyons shortly after the game came out after picking up a starter and over priced boosters and GameStop.  From there I played all over from the Gaming Depot in Brookfield, Big Joe’s in Westchester, Crooked Hat in Scumberg, and many other places that are no longer around.  Then I started judging at One Stop Comics in Oak Park on Ridgeland.  I played all around the Chicagoland Area and played at the big events at Wizard World Comic Con.

There was a joke a few years back in a now defuct gaming magazine where the set designer said the day we got Speedball would be near the end of the Heroclix run.  Sure enough the last Marvel set put not only Speedball but Howard the Duck as well.

All was almost nearly lost except for a few strings of hope until at San Deigo Comic Con a month ago where suprisingly a company named NECA sold the special piece…Thor’s Chariot.  The internet was abuzzed with the possible return of the game but nothing was in stone and we were filled with the false hope after 2 unsuccessful attempts to save the game already under the belt, but then a glimmer of hope turned into reality.  At GenCon NECA sold the Chariots with the announcement that the new set will be coming back this November roughly 1 year after its the once thought cancelled Hammer of Thor set is coming out!!!

AND I CANT WAIT!!!!
